Shift Movement

Shift Movement is a Gloucestershire based initiative to make yoga and mindfulness training accessible in schools and communities. We teach in-person and online yoga classes, train freelance yoga teachers to join our Shift team, mentor young people and empower them to share tools with their peers, train adults working in education to be wellbeing ambassadors, host events, offer a directory of local classes, provide a platform with online yoga videos, offer bespoke 1-1 yoga lessons and  deliver school workshops.

We are a movement of change-makers, making a shift towards better mental health for young people and educators. For a more present, resilient and connected future.

We all experience degrees of stress or anxiety throughout our lives. In the middle of busy days, we often struggle to know how to find our way back to ease and connection… and end up just waiting for the next weekend or holiday, hoping to feel okay again..

Imagine there is something that you could do daily or even in the moment that would help you work through those periods of stress to find a calm headspace.

There is! Yoga is scientifically proven to help lessen anxiety and depression. Through regular practice of mindful yoga it is possible to retrain your brain to be more present and resilient. Yoga helps us find that ease, connection, and strength in our day-to-day lives.

Yoga can benefit everyone…

Gone are the days when you needed a full wardrobe of lycra, gym memberships, only consume drinks that taste like freshly mowed grass, be able to tie yourself in knots or stand on your hands, or be anything other than you already are. If you can breathe, you can be good at yoga. In fact there is no good at yoga, there is only practising yoga.

No matter your shape or your fitness level, this is accessible for anyone and everyone, from all walks of life.

Nowadays yoga is in schools worldwide, doctors are prescribing yoga, professional athletes are noting how it improves their performance and prisons are offering it as rehabilitation.

At Shift Movement we help you to re-think what your perception of yoga is and who you think it is for and instead see at a universal self care practice, as essential as brushing your teeth everyday, it’s basic hygiene for the mind.

The Shift Story

Founded by Robin in 2016, Shift has grown into a team of skilled yoga teachers delivering a range of innovative courses, classes and events throughout Gloucestershire.

While still at school, Robin experienced the huge impact of yoga and meditation on her own mental health and confidence, ability to learn effectively, and formation of healthy relationships. She also realised that not everyone has the same access to these life-changing opportunities for improved wellbeing. So, she trained to become the UK’s youngest certified yoga teacher, and immediately began passing her knowledge on to friends. The interest in yoga grew from not only her friends but young people all around Gloucestershire who wanted to join her teen classes and schools requesting her to talk at assemblies and deliver workshops. This sparked Robin to develop a business to provide young people and schools with yoga and mindfulness.
